As a person that just never found interest in alcohol why should i not prefer a country with prohibition being the law of the land.
From what i have read we have been misled by the 20's prohibition as being a failure. It really meant that hospitals had empty beds cause liquor puts people there and on OUR roads it would be great as a non-drinker to not fear you drunk drivers.

so.. does it make sense for me to be PRO prohibition?

Look at how badly the war on drugs is going.

Trying to ban alcohol would go even worse.

First it would never make sense to try and ban something that can be produced at home. Their will always be people wanting it, so their will be people producing it. Then you have illegal drug trade, which creates violence, crime and simply makes it worse than it was before. You then still have not taken the drunks off the road or out of the hospital beds. Look at the situation this country has with marijuana. They try and try to control it, yet it is the most prevalent illegal drug today. Your hard earned tax dollars are paying for prisoners that get caught to lounge around in jail all day and eat three square meals a day. When if it was legal they would be out earning their own keep and it wouldn't effect you in the slightest. It is only a matter of time until that is legal. Back to the topic though. Why would you want to give up any freedom what so ever that you have. So in conclusion no it really doesn't make sense to be pro prohibition even though you do not consume alcohol yourself.

I like a drink. Not very often but i do. However i dislike smoking. So based on MY wishes I would want to ban smoking in the same selfish way that you wish to interfer with my free will to enjoy an alcoholic drink in a social setting.

Having a drink is not the same as being a drunk. So just because you never took to drinking does not mean that we have to have our liberties curtailed to suit your position.

Prohibition only drives the problem below the radar anyway. Plus the greatest threat to road safety is drugs not drink, and cell phone users who drive in animated conversation. So many modern and not so modern vices are all equally responsible for the medical malodies that beset our respective medical facilities.

I would have to say what you do in your private life is YOUR business. As soon as we start telling people what they can and cannot do in their own time, is the day we become a country with less freedoms. The more freedoms you take away the easier it is to take away more of them. For all those drinkers out there who drink and drive the penalties need to be a lot stiffer. For instance, an accident caused by being drunk should carry a mandatory jail time. If there is a fatality there should be prison time. Make the penalty stiffer, but don't take away the right.

Where do you draw the line at what's good for you and what's good for everyone else?

wake up. Your freedom to choose not to drink isn't being infringed upon, so why punish people who do drink by taking away their right to choose for themselves?

EDIT: Alcohol isn't the problem, people who use it irresponsibly are the problem. Alcohol and drugs don't kill people, people kill and maim themselves and others because of their poor decisions. It's the same issue with Guns and other hot button issues nowadays. Stop blaming the Alcohol, Drugs and Guns for societies ills and start looking at the people who use and abuse them. What the hell happened to personal responsibility?

Telling people they can't have it makes them want it more. I agree with the dangers & social problems alcohol creates. It seems funny that your ? reminds me of another I recently answered. They asked about religious freedom. People need to learn responsibilty & accountability above their own selfish needs or desires. There are dry counties acrooss the USA in various states. You can ask a realitor in your area for locations near you.

If we vote our own beliefs we open an interesting discussion of what should be legal and what should not. If I do not drive why should My life be made more dangerous by streets and roads carrying traffic which could run me over/ If we choose a free society it has its inherent dangers

I desire somebody who beverages, however no longer an alcoholic. I get excitement from having a drink with dinner on occasion, or sipping a cocktail on an analogous time as i'm interior the pool or something like that. i does not prefer a guy who refrained from alcohol, as I do get excitement from it myself on occasion, and that i basically comprehend i does not prefer to drink if he did no longer approve of it.

Just keep in mind that when Prohibition was the law of the land, the Mafia flourished. Kinda like drug cartels now--except more local. People will get their hooch...someway or another.
