Apparently anyone in their late 30s or early 40s can tell you about the Courtship of Eddie's Father. Loved that show! Of course, but its not nearly as funny as Rob and Big roflmao

I think you are looking for "The Courtship Of Eddie's Father". It ran from 1969-1972 and starred Bill Bixby and Brandon Cruz. Harry Nilsson performed the theme song.
