I was wondering, has anyone ever heard of someone sharpening the edge on their skis or snowboards so many times, that it actually worn down too far to use? I haven't seen it happen, but it seems like it could.

Yup, it's more of a concern for basegrinding as using a hand sharpener doesn't take away much material, but it can happen over time. I really wouldn't worry about it as you'd have to sharpen your edges everyday and file for hours at a time to really do some damage. However, if you don't know what you are doing or you send it through too many times, a base grinder can ruin a board pretty quickly
