I'm so sorry, you must be finding this such a difficult decision.

I had a missed miscarriage - my baby died at 10 weeks, but I only found out at a 16-week scan. I had a D&C because I knew my baby had died and that the miscarriage hadn't completed naturally.

I would say that you should be absolutely sure that your baby has died before the D&C. It is often difficult to detect a heartbeat, particularly when the foetus is so small. Maybe wait a few weeks to see if a miscarriage happens naturally or to give time for the foetus to get bigger and get a stronger heartbeat.

Your doctor must be a complete idiot. The baby's heartbeat is not detectable until after 12 weeks. So if you care about this baby, I'd wait it out at least another 6-7 weeks.

i am so sorry,i know you will be fed up of hearing those words.i had a miscarriage with twins,(which i didnt know,i thought i was only having the 1 baby)i bled a little bit and the baby came away from me,i went to the hospital and all they did is felt my stomach and said "your still pregnant" i came home thinking i was still carrying a baby, only to go the hospital the next day for an ultrasound scan, and be told there wasnt a heartbeat,i had to have him/her removed surgically followed by a d&c,if you havent had an ultrasound scan then i'd demand one before you make a decision.my thoughts are with you.

NO. I had the same problem a few years ago. Just wait. You will not get an infection. Your body will naturally abort the baby. A D&C can puncture the uterus, and cause scar tissue which will make it harder for you to conceive in the future. Just wait.

I had the same thing...its called a blighted ovum. You have two choices. One wait for a natural miscarriage or a d&c. I opted for a d&c to get it over with righ away. The d&c also cleans out the uterus. Its better than waiting for it to pass naturally.

I had a D&E last year because of the same reason. I was told that they had to do it otherwise it would take several "cycles" to clear my insides. And I didn't want to wait those several months.

D&C is safest, it lessens the chance of infection. Also, it's nice knowing you have taken care of the situation rather than waiting! Good Luck!
