Yes, to set an example. And especially not to be a hypocrite. Like, if you're telling people to live godly lives, you should be living an example of a godly life yourself--not secretly doing drugs and dating male prostitutes.

We don't see the real lives of famous people. Yet, we expect that they will not be exposed for doing unethical or really immoral activities. This is highly subjective, since each of us has a different moral set. Basically, if a person is famous for being this or that, then they need to do what is right to maintain that prestige, or they will let down others who aspire to be like them, or who respect them.

Leading by example is being out in front with those you are working with. Its easy to give orders and stand back and watch while the work is done, but your co-workers do not respect you as much as if you were to say, this is the plan, lets all pitch in and get the job accomplished. Then you get into the job yourself, displaying a positive attitude and a willingness to see the chore finished even if the going gets tough.

It is "lead" by example, not "led". And, you are right - it means to set an example for others to follow. Famous people can lead by example by treating others with respect, using their talents to benefit the community, and educate others. For example, Oprah leads by example because she gives back to the community and promotes education.

LEad by example/.....means to set an example and have others follow in your foot stops....to be a good idol.
Famous people might want to lead as an example by volunteering their time for charity work or....help other countries in needs....etc etc

when a ruler rules by example, that means they rule the way they would like their subjucts to act. for instance, if a ruler rules fairly and justly, they want the people to act fairly and justly. i can't think of anybody that would do horrific acts and want their subjects to do the same. to lead by example might mean, in the old cliche, to treat others you want to be treated. if you are working on a group project, don't be rude to everybody because then they will act the same towards you. treat everybody kindly and hopefully they will feel respected enough to treat you that way, too. i hope this was helpful.

I am not sure but I think it may mean that the famous person had a role model in which that person followed the role model's footsteps. Meaning that s/he was helped by another or lead others as a role model.

It means doing something that will be an inspiration to others. For example Alexander the Great was a great conqueror and always fought fiercely at the front of the battle. His men, at seeing this, would do the same,
