which is grounded.....4 wires to it, but only a 3 pronged receptacle, so the ground wire is just bonded to the mount plate of the receptacle. If the chassis of this dryer (or oven) which is in same condition of wiring as the dryer...if that chassis becomes energized from a malfuntion, will the 30 Amp non GFCI breaker trip before someone is hurt seriously?

if your dryer is next to the washer run a wire from a screw on the back to the cold water pipe and clamp the wire to it. you can buy a clamp for just that purpose at any hardware store for about $1.00. make the wire a few feet longer than you need so that you can move the dryer out to install it. good luck and happy holidays!

I am confused. What does the bathtub have to do with anything? Anyhow, the only way that a breaker will trip is if the hot is shorted to the ground. If the chassis is not grounded then it will not trip the breaker.

You have bigger problems than the wiring. Get the dryer out from under your bathtub.
