Is there a way to charge up Double A batteries instead of buying new ones?

No, regular AA batteries can't be recharge. You can buy a charger and rechargeable batteries to do that. You can get them just about everywhere. The charger probably cost around $15 and the rechargeable battery is going cost a little bit more than the normal battery.

No. Unless they are specifically Rechargeable batteries, such as Ni-Cd or NiMH or Li-ion. If you try to charge regular alkaline batteries you may cause a fire or damage your equipment.

you need batteries that were made to be charged
not any type of battery can be safely charged
