Alien in 1979 at age 14. It scared the living daylights out of me. Although I had seen many scary movies before that, this one really took the suspense to the maximum. The dark setting of the ship, the great acting by Sigourney Weaver and the musical score made for a great movie experience.

I don't really remember seeing a scary movie at the theater until I was a teenager. Not sure why. I did as a teen though..probably about 15 yrs old. That was the Exorcist.

Nightmare on Elm street was my first scary movie I was so scared I couldn't sleep for weeks. Before that, The Wizard of Oz, I hated the flying monkeys to this day.

Night of the Living Dead. I was about 8. My brother took me to the drive-in in his convertible MG, and then got out to go 'get popcorn' from the concession stand, but actually he crept around behind the car and waited for a scary part and then reached in and grabbed me around the shoulders and pulled me out of the car, screaming. He always did have a nasty sense of humor!
