what purpose does it serve?what's the glory in it?don't you think people that do it should be barred from using computers?of course it would be hard to enforce but,i bet i could come up with a few idea's that would keep them off of it.

Well, the large majority of people who do this aren't doing it for mere fun. There's a great deal of money in hacking and getting a virus on people's machines. They can steal personal information or run programs in the background of millions of machines to earn money from advertising or launch attacks on a major company to steal information. It's rare that anyone would risk jail time these days for fun, but for those who do... they're just punks. Same as asking why vandals enjoy toilet papering your house.

In a lot of countries when people are convicted of distructive computer hacking the are banned from use of computers for a period of time.

As for why, who knows. If you can solve the problem of distructive anti social behavior you'd be a rich and famous people.

unfortunately a lot of the "hackers" are the same people that write the code for the company's that sell Anti-Virus protection, it's called job security...

the other's are bored computer geeks, with low self-esteem that can't get a girlfriend...they usually go by the term "losers"...lol

Because they are sadistically stupid. The only way to stop them without shooting them I think would to break their fingers at all the knuckles and shoot anyone who sells them a computer.

Its like a game to some, other is a challenge. Its the simple fact that they know how to do it so they do. Install a firewall
