I live in Ontario and the new high school curriculum requires for each student to complete 40 hours of community service to graduate. Even if I didn't have to, I still would have done it anyway. I worked at a elementary school Library for 2 weeks, helping them shelf and organize their new stock of books and I also assisted them with their book fair (and I got to take home one free book for being a helper afterwards!) I felt really good about helping the librarian afterwards because she was quite elderly and would have had trouble doing it herself. I also volunteer at a new private school once a week. I just assist them in heping teachers organize classroom activities and sometimes I even help ESL students who may need extra attention. I have a lot of fun doing it. In the future, I would DEFINITELY like to volunteer at an animal shelter because that is a cause I feel quite strongly about.
