there is never an exact way to tell unless u feel the leak but if u know ur flow is very heavy (usually day 2 and the end of day 1) only let a super stay for 2 hours then by day 3-4 you should be okay with a super for about 4-5 hours then on the last days of ur period u should worry about leaking you should be in the clear.

It is good to change a tampon every 4-8 hours. You know you need to change them when the string is wet with blood. That either means that the tampon is full and might leak or it could mean that you inserted it wrong.

No. You should change at least every two hours for safety (I mean HEALTH safety --to reduce the risk of toxic shock syndrome) If you have very heavy flow, try changing every hour or hour and a half. If you are worried about leaking, use a panty liner or even a light pad for extra security on those heavy days or when it is not convenient to go to the bathroom every hour or so.

Don't wait until its' about to leak! Change your tampon/pad every 4 hrs! Whether its soaked or not, you don't want bacteria to buildup down there. Not pleasant.....yeast infections an example.

How can someone online tell you this accurately?

For safety purposes though, change every 4 hours to reduce the risk of TSS.

They used to recommend you change them every 2 hours, regardless of flow, to avoid TSS (toxic shock syndrome), but maybe that has changed and I'm just admitting that I'm old!

I heard change it every two hours, unless you have an INCREDIBLY heavy flow.
