I was one for about 10 years, it was ok but all it took was a pepperoni pizza and have not been one since. I can still taste that pizza yum yum

I've been a vegetarian for over ten years now, and never regretted it.

I think what we do is awesome, for the most part, though I don't appreciate the ones who give us a bad rap by trying to lay a guilt trip on meat-eaters.

Is it really constructive to have a single opinion on an entire category of people, however? I mean, sure, it happens all the time - but usually stereotyping is considered unwise.

We're an okay bunch, in my opinion. Sure, there are a few vegetarians who go overboard and give every vegetarian a bad name, but there are also a lot of vegetarians who are very good people. Just because a few people act like they're better than everyone else because their diet doesn't include meat doesn't mean every vegetarian is going to whine if you decide to order a burger when you dine out with them. I just finished a veggie burger for my dinner, and my normal lunch is a PB&J sandwich and carrots, but that doesn't mean I can't sit down with my friends who enjoy meat. Omnivores have to tolerate the beliefs of vegetarians, and vegetarians have to tolerate the beliefs of omnivores.

Depends on the type. Ovo-lacto vegetarians are not harming themselves and can get all the required nutrients. Vegans might be depriving their bodies of needed B-12. B-12 only comes from animal sources -- so technically to stay true to vegan-ness, a vegan cannot take B-12 in any form. Over the long term, a B-12 deficiency can lead to anemia and in severe cases nerve damage. And since not all vegetarians are so for moral reasons, those who are for health reasons only would do well not to eliminate *all* animal products. But it never hurt to cut down on the red meat, that's for sure.

With the grains that a cow eats 20 people could be fed. This means there would be no more world hunger if everyone turned vegetarian. So I guess being veg is kind of loving humans. And animals.

Vegetarians are people that sacrifice their selfish taste because they don't support the intensive farming and cruelty that all farmed animals have to go through so that people can have their burgers.

In China they eat dogs and cats, what's wrong with that? One animal is equal to another. No living thing wants to die, and live caged without light and fresh air while waiting to be shot.

I think they have the right to eat what they want, and not to eat what they don't want. And I commend those who do it with "good intentions", such as to not take part in things such as harsh treatment of livestock, our over-consumption of meat, etc.

However, I think that vegeterians who think they are eating meat simply because it is "healthier" are deluding themselves. If anybody thinks that eating crops and vegetation, with insectisides, genetic engineering and alteration, crops being watered by our polluted water systems (include our sky) and all are actually guaranteed to be healthier than meat, they are unfortunately mistaken.

Well, oh god, i love the taste of cow, sheep, pig, birds, fish hell the list goes on, however at this point in my rambling answer to this question, I'd like to say that my gf is a veggie and cooking is a 'mare, the oven and grill is divided with tin foil so the delicious juices of meat won't splash the 'fake' meat in there . . . damn i digress, i think mine is lovely (my veggie gf that is)

To each his own. The only vegetarians I don't like are the ones that tell you that you are wrong for eatting meat. As omnivores, we were born to eat meat just as carnivores were. Only difference is we are blessed with a digestive system that allows us to eat other things besides meat.

No problem. Why do you ask this in the pets category? There is a vegetarian category under the food section, just in case you didn't know!

I don't think about them. Yet, it sure seems that if a person is a vegetarian, they find a way to let everyone know about it. Seems to be a 'poser' kind of thing for some non-meat eaters.
