Keep trying different ones. Eventually he will get used to one

My son never used a pacifier. He would just spit it out. There are just babies who don't like them and maybe yours is one of them. A two week old baby maybe just be uncomfortable so make sure he is not irritated by either clothing or wet diaper. Also keep in mind that newborns are always hungry. Do you time the feeding? Mine fed every 1 1/2 hour! Do not force the pacifier. As all the other here said just offer a clean pinky. Make sure your nails are not long and you wash your hands. In a matter of weeks you baby will get used to being happy without the need to suck all the time.

There are lots of types of pacifiers, so try some made specifically for newbies that fit better and simulate a nipple more closely. I would also wash my hands very thoroughly and allow my baby to mouth on the pinkie finger, since for some reason they always seemed to like that better.

Is he spitting the pacifier back out? Some babies just have a hard time learning to 'grip' the pacifier in their mouths and need a little help bracing it there.

My daughter had to try several different pacifiers, but finally found one her son likes. I do know some babies do not take pacifiers though. My daughter would never take one, but both my sons did. Also, my daughter breastfeeds, and had no problem with her baby also taking a pacifier. Good luck.

You don't need to give your baby a pacifier. If you are breastfeeding it can actually interfere with his latch and cause you pain from soar nipples and your little one not getting enough milk.

I would just let them go to the breast as much as they want. They are very young and while they may not need the food they need the comfort.

If you do not want to do this just use your pincky.

If you are breastfeeding you may want to see a lactation consultant or La Leache League leader (go to www.laleachelaegue.org to find one) and make sure that you little one has a good latch. He/She may be wanting to suck all the time becuase they don't have a very efficent latch and are not getting enough to eat at in one feeding.

I would try the Soothie pacifier, my son liked for me to stick my finger though the back of a soothie pacifier so he could chew a little too.

When my little one gets that way the only thing that will work is a pacifier called Soothie, they usually give them to newborns in the hospital. You can find them anywhere. Its the only thing that will work for me.

I found the traditional pacifier to be to big for my children's mouths. Find one for a preemie and try that.

Have you tired the big nipples, with the round plastic (sry, I can't think of the name)? Those was worked for my little girl. She had a hard time adjusting to regular ones.
