I went to law school at my parents urging, however after finishing I decided I didn't want to become a lawyer. I wouldn't call it regret so much as a really interesting learning experience.

The down side is the workload getting through law school. It is a difficult endeavor, filled with tons of reading and technical writing. It is also one of those things that you question while you are doing it because it has both a mental and emotional strain on you.

The upside is that there are not many things that look better on a resume than a law degree. You can ask for (and get) more money, you can take jobs that you might not have full experience in due to the effort and smarts you showed you had to get through law school, and you also can fall back on your degree and practice if you feel so inclined.

Think of it this way...you spend three years investing in your future, and it pays dividends for the rest of your life.

There was an attorney at our offices that hated being an attorney. She went to law school because that is what her parents wanted. She now does not know what to do with her life. She goes around from firm to firm trying to find a suitable practice but is mainly miserable. Get out now and do something else or figure out what area of law would make you happy.

I would have to say that will be one of the best things you could ever do for yourself and you'll never regret it unless you want to be poor. Your parents obviously love you a great deal and want the best for you. I would thank them. I recently started college, I can only go for an associates degree because I don't have time or money, my daughter is five. You have no clue how many people would love to be in your shoes, you'll regret it if you don't go or at least try!!! Good luck and congratulations.

No, I went to Law School because it is the only thing I could see myself doing outside of sports. A law degree opens a lot of doors for you, even if you don't want to practice law. Law School was one of the hardest things I ever had to go through, but I feel like it is worth it.

No, but if I did I would quit Law School and do what I wanted to do. Education is a luxury and often one has to take a break from it and work full-time to realize what a blessing an education is.

I recommend going to school because you wish to, not just because someone else is willing to pay for it.

Good Luck!

I didn't go to law school, but I can tell you that you have to do what you want to do with your life in order to be happy. Be what you want to be. Parents are wrong for wanting there children to do what they really wanted to do when they were growing up, but for some reason didn't.
