Recommend Scola Cell instead of wallpaper paste as it does not contain fungicide. PVA is too sticky but is useful as a final coat to strengthen and smooth the surface. Then apply a coat of white emulsion before painting.

the best stuff i found to do paper mashey is wallpaper paste or good old flour and water. i used this a lot when the children was young.

hi i found that using flour with water to a thick paste was quite good it is not expensive either try it
