Daniel Craig plays in the new movie: Casino Royale.
The bad guy is NOT a crooked casino owner. He is like a internation terrorist banker. To make a profit for himself, he takes his clients money and invests it in something else. When he invests in an airline, James Bond stops him and now he has lost the terrorist's money. He enters into a poker game to win the money back, so it is very important that he wins the game so he can repay the terrorist.
James Bond on the other hand has to win the game so that when LeChiffe loses, LeChiffe obviously will not want the terrorist to kill him, so he will give MI6 information about terrorist and in exchange, MI6 will protect LeChiffe.
