Ok, my previous question stated that he was already dead. I checked on him, and he is not belly up anymore, he's kinda sideways, yet responsive.

Should I let him go naturally, or should I put him out of his missory? I've had that fish for a long time. But he looks really pathetic. I can't look at him anymore. It makes me sad.

NO FLUSHING!

Any suggestions on what to do with him?

How can I end his life respectfully?

Euthanasia is very controversial. Personally I have a hard time putting anything out of it's misery so to speak. There are humane in home methods worth a look up. I let my fish go naturally. It pains me to see them suffer but I don't have the supplies or the strength to do it myself. There's one thing I do make sure of. That it's completely dead before removing the body. Fish are really good at looking 100% dead when they aren't yet.

Please do not listen to people who tell you to freeze him. This is not humane unless you put him to sleep with clove oil first!

if you are absolutely sure that he's on his way out. the most respectful thing for you to do is let him go naturally.

i know it's hard, i had a fish for 4 years once, when he went it was like losing a family member.

good luck.

I personally could never do this, but when we had a suffering fish in the past my husband put some water in a zip lock baggie, put the fish in, and put it in the freezer, He was gone in about 5-10 minutes... :(

sounds like hes on his way out... i would just let him do his thing, make sure the water is clean, and feed him still. but dont expose him to other fish, he might have a disease.
then after he dies, clean and rinse your equipment thoroughly!

you can freeze him(put him in a baggie with water an d put him in the freezer) it will put him to sleep but I had a fish that only his head would float once and he lived a while longer

if he stays like that much longer he will die very slow and the faster you get it over with the less hard it is to (end his misery)

well i'm sorry but flushing is like the only way yuo can really put him out of his misery, unless you want to chop up small little pieces of rat food pison and when you come back your can just toss him somewhere.
