All living things are made of Cells, the smallest units of life.

Living things:
1. Grow
2. Reproduce
3. Use Energy
4. Are organized
5. Are made of cells
6. Respond to stimulus

Fire is unique in the sense that it is all of the above, but is not made up of cells. Viruses are an anomaly because they are obligate parasites and do not respond to stimuli outside of a Host.
