I lost an 18 inch oscar last winter I couldn't bury him as the ground was frozen and he was way to big and too much a friend to flush. I froze Dude and in the spring I buried him in my flower garden so he could complete the cycle and fertilize the soil. Find a friend or relative who wouldn't mind providing a resting place for your fish.... I am truely sorry for your loss. It isn't an easy thing especially if you have bonded with your fish. Dude is greatly missed for his antics and personality!

Do you like plants? You can bury the fish in a pot of soil with a plant. The fish will fertilize the soil, and the plant will serve as a memorial for the fish.

wrap him in a cloth that won't damage him and put him in a small box. Then bury it somewhere where it won't get ruin or dug out by an animal but also put him somewhere you will remember and even say a prayer when you do that to help calm you down as well.

Wrap the fish up and freeze him for the time being. Then go out and get a couple of similar fish to replace him.

Then I would wrap him in a bit of foil and bury him deep near a tree or some other spot where you won't accidently dig him up.

If you really loved your fish, find out if there is a local pet cemetary near you. But don't go out to your local park and bury him, its illegal.

think best idea would be to go to pet store & find a real colorful fish to help lessen your feeling of loss

I like the plant idea. Just make sure you don't need to repot it for several years.
How about a nice pothos? Or a goldfish plant? :)
