Last night, my 2 yo was playing with some lip gloss of mine (I know, bad idea, Mom). Anyway, she got the lid off and I accidentally stepped on it. It squirted out like a tube of toothpaste, all gooey and everything. I can't get the stain out and we're putting the house on the market in a couple of weeks. Does anyone know how to get this out?

I agree that you should rent a carpet cleaner machine. (You can usually pick these up at your local grocery store.)

Load it with water as hot as it will take, and some of the recommended cleaner, then place it over the one spot and let it REALLY clean it. It is best if you get a machine that has brushes that go in a circular direction, as this will give more of a deep scrub.

Periodically lift the machine head and see how it's doing at cleaning that one spot, and reposition a bit if necessary. Also, replace water and detergent as it runs out.

This should get at least MOST of the stain out. Then I would try a carpet cleaner spot remover to get out anything that may remain.

The worst that could happen is that you may need to clean the whole carpet to make it the same colour.

how about placing a few paper towels over the stain, then an iron set to medium heat to try to soak up the grease into the paper towel? Works when candles have dripped onto carpets, and since lip gloss is waxy, or greasy, this may help. Can;t hurt to try.

You can try using Folex. It's really great at getting stains out of carpet (even red kool aid). You can buy it at walmart or a grocery store. It comes in a generic looking white bottle with purple writing on it. I love the stuff. Good Luck!

I would rent a carpet cleaner/steamer. I would think you'll need hot water to dissolve this, since lipstick/gloss is greasy.
Good luck!

have you thought about goo gone? it's the lemon oil stuff that takes label residue off. it's supposed to work on lipstick. i would blot up what ever you try with paper towels, don't scrub. then wash the carpet with a machine.
