Is this just an exercise of convenient religion?

I'm not trying to say I support promoting Christianity or involvement in Darfur, but it seems contradictory that Bush pushes Christianity/family values so vehemently in America but doesn't act on them abroad.

He's a politician in the most powerful position in the world. He will do what they have all done before him. Choose the battles that have some benefit for the United States (moral benefit is not enough), and talk rhetoric that trys to make it look like he ever cared about the victims of Hussein. Darfur is just another example of what will be ignored when it holds no benefit for our country. I love my country, but we are the damndest hypocrites sometimes.

I think you raise a valid point. It seems his whole administration has been bogged down by Iraq. Some Christian conservatives lose sight of their spiritual beliefs in the pursuit of political power. It can be as you say an exercise in convenience rather than truth or justice. On the other hand many Christian groups are active about the issue of Darfur and the whole of the African continent.

It is just an exercise of convenient religion. I think he uses the church so he can be more appealing to the conservative crowd.

since the U,S has fed Africa for years and have tried to get them to help them selves I personally think it is time to say to the hell with them and let them settle their own disputes, look at what happened in South Africa, they were handed a prosperous and rich society on a silver platter, now look at them, they are all starving since they either killed all of the whites or ran them out , same in Rhodesia, the U,S, and Britain forced both country's to relinquish power to the blacks , now tell me why we should get involved again????
