do they get thrown in jail also? or are the bailiffs sympathetic to the situation?

Even though it's understandable, judges usually come down pretty hard on behavior like that in the court room. I think though, the first time it happens, depending on the severity of the attack, the person is just admonished by the judge. If it happens the second time, the person would probably be held in contempt and banished from the court for the duration of the trial.

I can't blame someone who would do that. I'd try to attack the person too.

I dont know what happens to them, but sometimes I don't balme them.
