I agree with your first answer, I hope that you're in a love marriage, and not in an arranged marriage. Best of luck to you.

that depends upon you, what you are willing to give what you are willing to take.
For starters I'm an American and my second marriage was arranged by my ex. He didn't allow me to choose who I wanted to marry, my ex did the choosing for me. I married his best friend after meeting him only once, while trying to convince this other American girl to marry him. This all took place in Jordan. They never got married. We came back to the states, after that my ex discovered that another man wanted to marry me so he took me and our baby and hid me in the house of his new wife, so that no one could find me. Later on he rushed me to Jordan to marry his best friend.
We've been married for 22 years and we started out as boyfriend and girl friend with the legal paper saying we were married. I never go by my license in the states but by the one I got from the courthouse in Amman Jordan. You should have heard the things those people were saying, they were really going to town too.
Another thing is I never told my family I even knew a man in Jordan called them I the phone to say I was married, weeks later we came to the states.
An arranged marriage worked best for me because even when I was dating I thought it was a bunch of stupid mumble jumble.
So now the question to you is what do you want as opposed to what you culture or your family wants? Had mine known I was going to Jordan to marry a man I only met once they would have surely chained me to my bed, put bars on the windows locked the door and installed a cat flap so I would not starve.

Perhaps parents do a better job at screening and selecting mates for their children than people do for themselves.

Most Indian marriages are arranged.
Indian divorce rate: <0.15%/1,000 people

Almost no USA marraiges are arranged.
USA divorce rate: 4.95%/1,000 people

Either way, best wishes.
