Have a larger than normal one-piece fiberglass shower stall that has two cracks in the floor. One abot 12" and the other about 8", a few inches from the drain. They are currently sealed with clear RTV. Does anyone know if there is a company that can repair these? Otherwise (I have been told) the whole bathroom would need to be remodeled due to the unusual large size of the unit.

yes they can be repaired in place and u dint have to remove them unless the hole is so large and in that case u should just remove it and u can install a ceramic tile shower or install a 3 piece unit....

The problem with a fiberglass unit, it would have to be taken out of it's location, so the repair would be made underneath the tub. If it is as large as you say, this would be very hard to do. It sounds like the original installer, failed to use a mortar bed under the tub. This fills in the gap underneath, and helps support your weight when you are in the tub. I might suggest that you have a walk in shower built in it's place. You could use tile, or cultured marble. If you choose this option, I strongly suggest that you replace the faucet, with a current "anti-scald" faucet. You can visit your local big lumber warehouse. They usually have how to clinics, if you are a do-it-yourselfer. If not, there are plenty of reliable plumbers available. Just get several quotes, and ask lots of questions. Research beforehand is a valuable tool to have.

I just want to say that Bigg Dogg is on the money. I have had to pay for 35 or more to be repaired in the past two years because of my ceramic tile sub-contractors doing installations without properly protecting the tubs. And since they ultimately pay for it you would think that they would start taking the time to do the prep work, but I guess they feel it's affordable.
