I was stuck in this situation a couple of years ago when I was working on a college budget. The best gift I got them, budget or otherwise, cost me about $20 for the both together. Get a picture of the three of you, blow it up, and purchase a frame from Walmart. Then, go to a trophy store and have a small plate engraved with a nice saying that shows your appreciation for them. Or a saying that means something to your family. Don't go to an expensive engraving store as you'll spend a fortune. A trophy shop typically runs about $1 a word. Figure $10 for the frame and $10 for the engraving and you have a very sentimental and well thought out gift.

Being that your on a budget, I would ask them some things that they have been wanting cleaned or fixed around the house. Get a list, decide what you can do and what should be left to an expert, and fix away. Do it on the DL, and unless it's something they use or see everyday they will never know until you reveal it. Some people thinks its cheap, but who wouldn't want those things fixed that they have been meaning to get too? To me, thats better than ANY gift. It also shows that you aren't in to the materialistic side of Christmas. Happy Holidays!

a mini scrapbook of remembrance of good times that you did together and hope to do ; it is time investment of you and your creativity ; you can make copies of photo , black and white and cut the copies up with sayings , words cut up from newspaper , magazines etc ; could be a Christmas 2006 book ; you could leave blank pages to add on and make a tradition - Merry Christmas
