I guess that I can't understand since I spent all 9 months leaning over the toilet throwing my guts up. I can understand that you might not know until later on but how can someone go into labour without even knowing that they were having a baby. I'm not saying that it doesn't happen, just that I can't imagine having no side effects of pregnancy whatsoever. Has anyone on here been pregnant and not known until they were in labour?

I agree! Even if you have a great pregnancy, with no symptoms...what about the kicks, punches and jabs to the ribs?? What would a women think that is, "gas"? I never believed a single person who ever claimed that! I guess maybe if you end up in preterm labor at like 25 weeks, maybe, but full term....no a chance!!

I find it baffeling that you dont know! But there was a lady at baby group who didnt know until she was in labour, they called an ambulance because she was in so much pain. The paramedics thought it might be appendicitice, until they got her to the hospital (they test for pregnancy when you arrive) a few hours later she gave birth, to a healthy 6lb'er girl! Quite unbelieavle, she is taking it very well!

It must be quite a shock, at least you usually have 9 months to get used to the idea of having a child.

I worked two jobs for a total of 18 hours a day. No morning sickness, only a 10 pound weight gain. That was explained away by the pizza I was eating for supper every night at my second job at the pizza place.

My period was always irregular so if I went 5 weeks then had a light period, it wasn't anything unusual. I did continue to have those light periods the entire time.

Never felt the baby move much, but between the two jobs and a 2 year old toddler, I never paid much attention. Too tired and running my *** off, you know.

The day before my son was born I spent 12 hours pushing 500 pound buggies of material across a warehouse. I woke up with a horrendous backache and called in to work. I went in at noon to pick up my check so I could go to the doctor. Then I went home to feed my 2 year old so he wouldn't be crying with hunger while I waited at the doctor's office.

My son was born at 2:25 pm. And, yes, I eventually realized what was going on when I had the overwhelming urge to push.

So, call me a liar if you want to, but I was one of those who didn't know for the enitre nine months.

I agree with you that people must have side effects, and therefor should realize that something is different with their bodies. However, I've heard of young teens not knowing that they were pregnant until late in their pregnancies. I think that genuinely, they might not have known, and that could be because they are not fully in tune with their bodies, so they don't realize that they are having side effects. Also, it might just be from not having the knowledge and guidance from parents.

I'm pregnant but didn't have any indication I was pregnant. I don't know since the only thing I had was breast tenderness and of course missing my period the only way I knew I was pregnant was because I had a stuffed up nose and ears. I knew before I took a pregnancy test, so I do not know exactly.

It always seems pretty unbelievable to me, but it seems an odd thing for people to lie about. Why would they want to be so unprepared for it all??
I saw on TV the other day a girl who didn't find out she was pregnant with twins until she went into labour. Apparently they were lying very far back and were very inter-twined, so that's why she didn't feel them kicking!

i would not say that i myself personally did not know i was pregnant all throughout my first pregnancy but i did not have any symptoms till i was 6 months pregnant...
however told by my dad when he was born my grandmother was originally rushed in for an appendiscitus of which turned out to be my dad they ended up taking her apendix out at the same time lol , i guess because she was such a big woman any way that she did not look or notice that she was.

Some women, although not many have their periods their whole pregnancy. The absence of a period is the one indicator you are pregnant right? Others gain very little weight or don't show at all. It's infrequent but it does happen. They are the lucky ones.

Not everyone has sickness. Some people bleed all the way through pregnancy, and some people don't really put on much weight.

However I think the major factor is denial - it is a very powerful emotion!
