I started recently my 1st professional IT job with a big company, they use maily Windows based networks, with few domain controllers, exchange server, blackberry server, and firewalls. It was a hobby for me and i was really good in it, but when i saw other IT professionals in this company, i felt i know nothing about IT yet. So where can i find IT tips to imporve myself more and to reach at least the level of a confident IT professional??

Best bet? Ask your peers at work. They'll likely know a lot about your current environment.

There are also great messageboard resources on the internet.

Ask your company to train you. There is usually a training budget, and if you get 5 days in a lab then you really will learn a lot!

The other way is to train yourself. Use an internet search engine, such as google:

http://www.google.com

This way you can search for answers to specific questions, or to research individual topics.

One of the best things to learn, is how to ask questions. After all, if you know exactly what you are looking for, it is much easier to find the answer! Teach yourself to be able to find information. Understand that others can't do this! People without computer skills will ask you questions, but will have no idea on what it is that they actually want. They will say "my computer is broken", when what they actually mean is "I can't logon because I've forgotten my password".

This is the typical scenario that amatuers (no offense) get themselves into. It is nice that you've found a job to learn new skills.

You just have to read, read, read and immerse yourself in the technology. If your company offers training, take it. Also visits forums like the Microsoft News Groups.

I can tell you that it is a long road to becoming a competant IT professional. I started off in oyur shoes so I know what it's like.

It took me about 6 years through different job responsibilities to become a very competant Associate Director in IT.
