Generally speaking, republicans want taxes lowered. This would cut programs for the poor while helping the wealthy to keep more of their money.

Is that what Jesus preached?

Did he say, "The Super wealthy will inherit the earth"?

Yes, they can be, because there are different perspectives on how things should work -- should charity be government-sponsored or community and individually sponsored? Should government be used to spread discipleship or should it be an individual ideal? (I have different answers than the GOP does, but that doesn't necessarily make Republicans less Christians, it just means that we have a different perspective).

P.S. NOWHERE in the Bible are the words "God helps those who help themselves." And Christ CERTAINLY never said anything close to that.

Throughout Jesus's travels he always maintained the theme of choice. When the rich man came to him and asked how to get into heaven Jesus gave him a choice. When the government taxes people it is a forced no longer a choice.

If I have $10 and you have nothing and I give you $2 to by a sandwhich or something like that does that make me evil? Your thought process says that because I did not give you $5 instead of $2 I should be punished. Should a third party come in and force me to give up that $3?

The wealthy in this country give billions of dollars to charities that work every year. They employ thousands of people helping to feed these families. All the technological advances in the last century were because rich people invested their money into science. Artists can only survive by the funding of wealthy people.

I'm not saying that rich people are perfect but it is better that they have control over wealth then the government. When the government controls wealth they waste it building bombs and hireing more soldiers to invade countries. They pay farmers not to plant and pay people not to work.

No you cannot be a true christian and a republican at the same time. You cannot be a true christian and a democrat at the same time. A true christian is a Libertarian christian.

Well as an Independent I personally do not like the way the Republicans have been running the Country in the past-But yes you can be a Republican (most are supposed Christians or Evangelicals) like Goldwater was and still be whatever religion you want to be -like Goldwater( I mention Goldwater because he was unlike any Republicans we see today) he was a very Liberal Republican and hated the religious right trying to impose their beliefs on the rest of us.He actually said "the religious right scares the hell outta me" because in America the Church is supposed to separated from the State and nowadays you see too much religion involved with politics..I.E President Bush and his nonsensical babble-Hope that helped-- PEACE :)BTW Jesus would NOT have been like any Republicans today.he was about peace, love and tolerance -not money more money and war like some Republicans seem to be about..

Well, let's see. I'm a Catholic and a republican. The way I see it is, I go to work 8-5 everyday. Some weeks I can hardly afford to pay my own bills. Why should my money have to go to people who are to lazy to get off thier buts and work??? Don't get me wrong, I realize that some people actually need to be on welfare, ect., but I truly believe over half of them are just to lazy. The reason I say that is because I have people like that in my family. Or, they will have more kids so they can collect all the money they can get (also in my family). It's total BS!! So yes you can be a republican and be Christian. I see it as, if I want to help someone (if I have the money) then let me do it!

Anyone can be a true Christian. Jesus accepted all people. He reached out to the poor, the afflicted, even prostitutes. Political belief does not prevent one from calling themselves a true Christian. It's more how they treat their neighbors, meaning the rest of the world and the family next door.

He also said that God helps those who help themselves. Why should I work my butt off to pay for some shiftless loser? I have NO problem giving people a hand up. I have a very big problem with giving someone a hand OUT.

And again, I ask you - how much money are you donating to the government, since you're such a supporter of higher taxes?

He sure as hell didn't say, "Be lazy and pop out kids like puppies - someone who has a job will take care of you!"

How old are you, anyway? Your obsession with higher taxes tells me that you're not on your own yet.....

Yes a Republican can still be a normal Christian unless they are part of the Religious Right extremists who are George W Bush's favorite kinda good ole boys.

Yes they can.
There is nothing wrong with allowing people to keep their hard earned money to spend as they see fit. IMO there is something wrong with allowing people to make a living off of others hard work. I have had to have back surgery due to a life of hard work to take care of my family (I still work over 800 hrs a year overtime). Why is it OK for the government to take from me to feed and cloth someone who want hold a job because it is not convenient.
Democrats largely believe in abortion and that is murder so can they be Christian? In all fairness I think they can because even Christians sin it is but for the grace of God if anyone is raised up As non are deserving.

SO YOU SUPPOSE TO RAISE ALL THE TAXES SO THAT THE LAZY GOOD FOR NOTHINGS GET FREE HAND OUTS.
THE LORD ALSO SAID HELP YOURSELF AND I WILL HELP YOU. NOT RELY ON THE WEALTHY TO TAKE CARE OF YOU.
BEING RICH IS A BLESSING. IT ALSO DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU BREAK YOUR BACK TO ACQUIRE WHAT YOU HAVE TO GIVE IT AWAY IN THE FORM OF TAXES. JESUS WAS OPPOSED TO TAXES. WAS HE RICH ? YOU MAKE NO SENSE AND JESUS HAS NO PLACE IN POLITICS.
HE ALSO SAID THAT THE MEEK SHALL INHERIT THE EARTH NOT THE POOR.

you are right that republicans want taxes lowered BUT you can still be a Christian and be a Republican because you don't agree 100% with everything they do doesn't mean you're not a Christian.
