The additional Ethernet ports include:

1 uplink to go from the router to your Cable or DSL modem. You'll need to make sure you purchase either a Cable or DSL wireless router.

The remaining ports are for additional wired computers

The only Ethernet patch cable you will need for usage is the one that connects the wireless router to the Cable or DSL modem.

Normally you should connect to the wireless router with a patch cable if you are configuring the router.

if the router is wireless and u have a wireless card for your laptop or pc you are good to go (u need the modem to get high speed internet, u should know that). the other ports on the router is in case you ever decide to plug right into the router (Faster speed then wireless). Once you have everthing pluged in, your computer should know there is a wireless signal and connect by itself.

If your laptop has a wireless card then you are fine no need to purchase a wireless adpater.

Now yes your wireless router will come with all need. It also comes with a CD installation. Just stick your CD into your CD drive and follow the instructions and you will be fine.
Make sure you secure your wireless network by using a WEP setting. The CD at the end of the installation should offer you that alternative.

If you have any issue email me and I will walk you through the process.

Well for starters, you'll need internet service first (broadband)

Yes, then all you'll need is a wireless router. Make sure you get the correct router for your cards wireless protocol (A, B&G) it's ratehr unlikely you'll have an A card, so get a wireless G router.

You'll need an enternet cable to attach to your modem (Cable or DSL) but they usually come with one for this purpose.

the additional ports on the router are for hooking up additional computers or devices with a cat5 cable.
