No, seriously, the kiss of death comes from that famous non existent group, the Mafia. Actually from it's predecessor in Italy, the Cosa Nostra. To mark a man to be killed the godfather would embrace and kiss the man. Not the sexual kiss but the Italian/Euro way of kissing goodbye, hello, see ya, whatever. Anyway after that the guy was a marked man and soon dead.
There's also a reference in the Bible concerning Judas and Jesus

the kiss of death goes back to when Judas kissed Jesus on the cheek to make it clear to the roman soldiers that was the man they needed to take away.
Now a days it is sometimes used as a sneaky way of saying its this one here its this one you need to get be it real life crime or whatever
