Anything that loses a proton going from right to left or left to right in the equation is an acid.

So CH3COOH and H2O are the acids.

Ok, the acids are CH3COOH and H2O. Why? Okay, the -COOH ending on anything means that it is a weak organic acid. Also, if you look at NaOH, the OH designates a base, so the other must be an acid. Normally, you wouldn't think of water as an acid or base, because its neutral.. but only most of the times. So, the CH3 and CO2 (from COOH) is released into the atmosphere after the rxn and the OH and the leftover H+ from the -COOH bond to form H2O. So, the Na+ is oxidized (normally just Na), which leaves it a base, and the H2O is reduced (from H+) to make it an acid.

The first acid is acetic acid, CH3COOH. NaOH is a base.

One defintion of an acid, is that an acid is a donor of H+. Thus Na+ cannot be an acid.

H2O undergoes dissociation to produce: H+ and OH-. Thus, H2O may be considered to be acidic because it is a donor of H+.

i could not have placed it extra suitable myself!!! you're so thoroughly perfect that it extremely is unhappy. I surely have been puttering around right here on R&S for rather a whilst now, and that i think of my hair is permantly fried. i in my opinion have not contributed lots because of the fact of each and all the hateful language - and rather some that has been from "Christians". i'm so happy that there are others who trust me. We, as believers, could gain that if Jesus have been right here interior the flesh (returned), that the very human beings that we, as "Christians", are condemning by our hateful language may be the very human beings that he might decide directly to be with, and extra importantly, to love. I desire extra human beings could see that. thank you for being one. On behalf of Christians obtainable who are not that way, i prefer to say sorry to the non-believers for the detest that has been sent your way. It does not come from all believers.

In this reaction there is only one acid: CH3COOH........
But the reaction is not correct....where did you get it from?
