Interestingly, I've been reading lately about studies (I have no reference or link, sorry) which might suggest Republicans tend to donate significantly more to charity than Democrats. I'm not sure if this claim is true as I haven't fully researched it; but if is were true, that'd put the whole idea of GOP selfishness in a different light.

Is being a total hypocrite an important part of being a Democrat? Let's see: They're so arrogant to think that they know better than we do how to spend our money, so they want the government to force redistribution of wealth -- yet statistics show that registered Republican voters give over 200% more to churches and charitable organizations than registered Democrat voters and that giving to charity by Republicans was at an all-time high in the '80's, which the liberals claim was the Decade of Greed. Do as I say but not as I do? They're also champions of the rights of animals and claim "Meat is Murder" but when you get on the subject of unborn children, the mantra is "My body, my choice." What's wrong with this picture? They espouse political correctness and cry vehemently about the "wrongs" done to women and minority groups, but when confronted with their own less-than-legal-or-moral-or-ethical dealings, the response is "Who are you to tell me what I can and cannot do?" They relentlessly bash all people and all institutions that believe in the concepts of holding people accountable for their actions, facing the consequences of those actions, exercising discipline and self-restraint, and seeing that the world doesn't revolve around the individual, but when they get called on their self-serving humanistic beliefs they hide behind the First Amendment, all the while ridiculing the very men and women who protect their rights.

"If you're a teenager and you're not a liberal then you have no heart, but if you're an adult and you're not a conservative then you have no brain."

You statements are a misrepresentation of fact. Republicans do not want to eliminate assistance for the poor. They want for assistance to be time limited. In short help people who need it, but do not create lifetime entitlements which pay otherwise able bodied people not to work. Help people when they need it, but get them back into the workforce as soon as possible. This is born from the belief that people should be self sufficient and that government is not there to solve all the world's problems. Democrats have a history of raising taxes in order to create more entitlements and grow government. Republicans traditionally believe that government should be kept to a minimum and that it's intrusion into people's lives should be small. They further believe and have been proved correct time and again that by lowering taxes you spur investment and economic growth which actually generates more tax revenue and creates more jobs as a result. The current Congress does not meet this burden and does not represent the true conservative beliefs which the party was founded on. True conservative beliefs are not selfish. They are rooted in the ideas that people should provide for themselves and be responsible for their own lives.

No more than being ignorant is a virtue of Democrats. We want all taxes lowered on all people. If you think we are selfish I can tell you that I and my fellow Republicans donate many thousands of dollars to charity's. Actually billions. How much have you given?

New research has found out that Republicans are MORE generous and giving to charities than Democrats. How is that selfish. The report said if Democrats gave blood at the same rate as Republicans, there would be no blood shortage in America. It looks to me like the Democrats are the selfish ones.

Who wants programs to help the poor eliminated? We want to see the poor get back on their feet - BIG difference.

How much extra money are YOU sending to the IRS?

Besides, it's been shown that conservatives give more to charity than liberals.

I have lots of friends from both sides, and I can tell you in all honesty that my Republican friends volunteer a hell of a lot more than my Democrat friends.

Since we're generalizing here, are all Democrats as ignorant as you are?

What is more selfish? Desiring that people be SELF-RELIANT, and that effort be rewarded? Or advocating that OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY be taken forcibly by the government from those who have achieved and given to those who have not?

Recent studies have shown that conservatives give more than charity than do liberals.

Jesus said GIVE to the poor, and conservatives do. Liberals want government to TAKE from people.

Robin Hood stole from the rich - the local lords (government) who imposed high taxes on the working people.

If you want to pay more to the government from your own funds, you are free to do so. They will take the gift.

Most Republicans want everyone's taxes lowered. I'm in favor of TEMPORARY help to the poor, but am opposed to consistent welfare for the individual. How is that selfish?

It reminds me of this and government's role in our lives:
Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day
Teach a man to fish, and he'll eat every day.

the government turns into the undertaking whilst it incorporates itself the place is has no organisation regarding itself. The shape replaced into written to place limits on the federal government. Limits that are being surpassed over further and extra each and every day. it quite is the reason government is the undertaking. the belief of government isn't the undertaking. even with what you're being advised, the Republicans basically prefer the federal government to do what that's meant to do and that's all. *
