Port Merion is a very unusual place. It's where the TV show "The Prisoner" was filmed.

From CRC - Wales Management Council:

"If we use Gross Domestic Product per head as the yardstick, Wales lags well behind the rest of the UK and Europe.

Most recent figures show that, on average, Wales produces less than 80 per cent as much wealth per head as the UK in general. This gap is widening.

In many parts of Wales the figure is closer to 70 per cent of the UK norm. That's why many areas have been earmarked to receive Convergence Fund support - the highest level of support available from the European Union."

From Woodlands Junior School:
"Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Richard Nixon were of Welsh origin."

Lots of castles.

Very old mountains in the centre - much older than the Rockies.

Most of the population live near the coastal belt.

It has the most widely spoken language in the UK after English.

The national costume for women consists of a black and white tweed skirt, a red cape and a tall stove pipe hat (black).

At the time of the first World War, Wales had very productive coal fields.

The male voice choirs sing well and there are a lot of them. Music plays a greater part in Welsh life, than in English life.

Sorry I don't know the GDP of Wales

If you are not from that part of the world the you will find landscape of the west coast interesting, especially Wales and Scotland. It is different than anything I have seen in the US and very beautiful. There are also some interesting medieval castles, and towns. The GDP is about 14000 pounds per capita, the poorest in the UK.
