Is it true that you have a higher chance of miscarrying during your FIRST pregnancy than your second, third, etc?

I read this on a pregnancy forum and worries me because I am 6 weeks pregnant with my first baby.

Has anyone heard this before? Any truth to it?

I'm not sure if your first pregnancy has anything to do with it but I know during the first trimester the risks are higest.

Don't believe it. Sometimes I think that junk is made up just to make others scared or women that have miscarried trying to rationalize it. Miscarriage just happens. It had nothing to do with the number pregnancy. Its not a truth. Out of my family and friends I only know one woman to have miscarried. The rest of us (quite a few) all gave birth to our first conceived child.

I have heard many thing about your first pregnancy but that one I haven't. needless to say I only have one baby. the only thing I have ever heard was during your first trimester you are likely to miscarry. but if you eat healthy, be careful of picking up something that weighs more than 5 pounds then your baby will be OK.

I lost my first baby at 9 weeks and didnt know untill I was 11 weeks. It was hard on me, but I dont think that first babies increase your chances of miscarriage. I am 6 weeks pregnant with number 3 and scared it will happen again, but when I do, I try and breath and not think about it. I wish you all the best. Merry Christmas and happy holidays!!!

I haven't heard that, but I have heard the first trimester is critical which has scared me ever since. I am 12 weeks now but at times it still scares me that I could miscarry.

I've heard it is but once you get to 8 weeks the risks are reduced quite a bit. Don't worry and good luck!

YES. MY DOCTOR TOLD ME THAT AND THEN TOLD ME THE BAD NEWS. BUT NOT EVERYONE OK. SOME WOMAN WERE BORN TO MAKE BABIES LIKE FREAKIN RABBITS WITH NEVER A PROBLEM. AFTER THE THIRD TIME IT WAS SUCCESS HE IS NOW ALMOST FOUR MONTHS OLD.
