This is my first month of TTC, and i was wondering... is it better to:
1) Chart your BBT
2) Use ovulation predictor test/kits or
3) Let nature happen

(the third one proves to me the hardest one for me to do because i am always thinking and wondering and researching etc..)

i know they are all good ways to get pregnant, but i want to know which one worked best for you! please just pick one...

Get married and let nature happen. You know the old fashioned way.

Everyone's cycle is different. There is a myth that woman ovulate 14 days after their period begins...but that is only an AVERAGE and each month can be different. The other thing is that sperm can live inside you for up to 5 days.... so if you are having a shortened cycle one month and you have sex right after your period and you ovulate earlier than day 14 than yes, there is a chance of getting pregnant. The only way to know is to know exactly when you ovulate. There are several ways to know and some are more effective than others. Some can only predict before ovulation happens and some can only predict that is has already happened. The absolute best info I can give you is to go read a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive – or not! . It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not.
My husband and I tried for 1 year and had no luck..… We tried ovulation predictors , laying with pillows under me for 20 min. everything……the first month that I began using the book I realized that my timing was WRONG!. We got pregnant that very first month and I am now due Feb 2, 2007. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths! Even if you don't get into charting and everything....it will help you in so many ways!

Oh Andii,

First, I think you should first start taking a good pre-natal vitamin if you haven't already. Maintain a healthy diet and cut out any smoking or drinking while trying to conceive.

Second, you've got to relax. Conception has never happened for me when I was really trying. I always got pregnant when that was the last thing on my mind.

I know it is easy for me to say, but please try. Stress levels (no matter how well you may think you are suppressing it) does negatively affect conceptions.

I conceived twice using this free site. Once you set up your profile it will show you the best days to conceive. Its usually the same week every month (of your monthly cycles are normal) and just relax and do the deed that week! Make it fun and loving, not scientific.

Good luck!

Nature! I had 3 kids that way. This last birth I'm a bit more impatient. My plan is sex (after my first day of bleeding) on days 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18. That is supposed to cover the ovulation days. Its less stressful than worrying about charts, temps, or lists. So I'm hoping these dates work!

start with your cycle. Are you regular or not? If you are regular, you normally are the most fertile 12 days after your period. So if you have your period on the first, Try having sex on the 8,10,12,14,16 this is your best way of knowing. When you have the mucus thats another good sign. I never charted my temp or used the tests. I have four boys and 13 weeks pregnant with baby number 5....:)Goodluck to you!!!

My wife was on the pill for 10 years. When she went off, her cycle was extremely unpredictable (37days,21days etc) so it takes a while for your body to adjust. She wanted to get pregnant NOW and had calendars, thermometers, date books, schedules.
Trust me these things do not work. RELAX, RELAX, RELAX. it will happen when your body is ready. Unnecessary worrying and stress do not help. Took us 6 months of "trying" and 1 month of "not trying"to get pregnant. she is now 7 1/2 mo.
have fun and RELAX.

I tried all those. It took six years. Finally when I had about lost all hope then it happened. I am now 12 weeks. I would say it was three. I had given up so I guess that would be it. When I relaxed it just happened. Go figure.

It took me two years to fall pregnant. I had a D & C and I fell pregnant the next month. It felt like a miracle to me. I am now 15 weeks pregnant. Good luck to you.

I vote for let nature happen. If you get too scientific you turn sex into a chore instead of something fun.
