i mean dont get me wrong i am from the country and grew up listenin to cash, waylon, george, willie people of that sort but to me it seems like the newbies like kenny, big and rich, keith are totally taking it into a very dark and crappy place! I mean there is good country music out there just noone knows it! Stoney LaRue, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Jason Boland, bands like that i dont know maybe its just me

Yes, I think if an overcrop of new country stars continues filling the airwaves, the country music that we once knew will be no more. There are a few really great new acts, like the Randy Rogers Band, but they seem to be the ones that don't get as much facetime as others.

I can't say that I was ever a fan of country music...but I've listened to some of it...especially Johnny Cash. But I think that newer artists (the ones you mentioned and several others) are opening country to a wider audience and keeping it alive. Also most music reflects the climate of society and life at that time, so as for being too dark...I think that most music has taken that turn in some way or another in recent years.
