I'm basically going to answer all of the questions that you posted so here goes:
1. Would you sell it?
Well, my mother sells Mary Kay so I kind of get an inside look on what it's like and the kind of commitment it takes to do it. I personally would sell it because it's a lot of fun and the people are really encouraging to you. You basically join a group which they call a unit. This is a group of women headed by a director (that's a level in the company that you can reach). They always boost each other up and help each other out. It's a great company to work for with a lot of great prizes to earn.
2. What do you think of them?
I think I kind of answered that in the first question. They are a family oriented company. They always say God first, family second, career third. The cosmetics are pretty good, and it's a very profitable business.
3. Has anyone hosted a party?
Well, I've not actually hosted a party, but like I said, my mom sells it so I get an inside look at the whole business and what it's like.

I think that if you're really questioning this, then maybe it's not for you. I mean, you shouldn't necessarily look to other people for the answer to you question. You should only sell this if you truly like the cosmetics, fragrances, skin care, and the company. See what your family thinks first, and think about if you really are ready for this and if you think you could be committed. You don't have to do it full time, but you need to be energetic and enthusiastic about it, or else you won't be able to sell and recruit. I hope this helps you!

I personally am a Mary Kay consultant, and have been for almost four years. I love the company because of its products, the people, and the philosophies. No one can answer your questions except for you. Some things you might want to think about are: Do you love the products? Do you like the person who's asking you to join? Do you agree with the company's philosophies? How much time are you willing to give to this business each week? Are you teachable? Are you a people-person? All these questions are vital to having this business. This is not a get-rich-quick scheme, though some people seem to think it is. The key is to remember that this IS a business, and like any other business, you shouldn't just jump into it without thinking through some of the stuff mentioned. I personally have found great success, even earning a diamond ring among other items, and have made some of the best friends I've ever had. If you're serious about it, you can find great fulfillment, but if you're not, maybe right now isn't the best time to join...

FYI- Mary Kay only has 11% of the industry. It's worth a shot if it's something you want to do. Contact a Director to give you more information. OR call 1-800-Mary-Kay

I honestly think that you should sell Mary Kay me sister and Aunt sells Mary Kay and are making a forture doing it. Plus you make your own money and don't have to worry about not having money when you need it. Mary Kay is a great product and it truly works.

I sold it for about 6 months and lost more money than I made. I am sure that not every group out there is like this but I left because the district leader told me in front of the entire group that I was an under achiever because I didn't want to make it my full time job (I have a full time sucessful sales career already). I found that the cosmetics were heavy and my peers (late 20s-30s) were more interested in in brands like MAC and Clinique or did not have the money to spend on MK cosmetics and used drugstore products. I had a hard time getting parties that were worth my time. It can be lucrative if you want it to be but you have to expect to put a lot of time, effort and money into it before you start reaping the benefits. Personally if my friend came to me and asked if she should sell it, I would strongly recomend that she does not waste her money or time.

My best friend just became a consultant and she doesn't like it. Its very hard to find enough people to become your clients and get them to host enough parties to make any money. Its great to get a discount for yourself, but its hard to do it as a job.
