This was a PROSTATE exam; it is normal for all males getting their physical.
Women do not have prostates, so no it doesn't apply!
Cheers!

Yes doctors do rectal exams on women, usually during their annual pap smear. The doctor is checking for hemorrhoids or polyps and will sometimes do a hemoccult test (hidden blood) if there is any stool in the rectum. I know, it doesn't sound too pleasant, but it is necessary.

I've never had a rectal exam, but I'm sure that there are some women with colon problems that probably get them...

They do but not at every annual checkup like with guys. If we complain about something or have a pre exsisting history they'll do it, or if a woman has recently had a baby. But please!!! I've never had a doctor go up my rectum and I'm a 24 year old that gets checked out every year.

In a manner of speaking. The doctor was checking the size and softness of your prostate.

No, the doctor was checking your prostate, which females don't have. That was it.
