First of all YOU can't. Your friend should obtain a copy of his/her credit report, you get one free per year. Review the report and dispute any items that are not their responsibility. He/she should also contact the credit agencies and place a fraud alert on his file, if someone tries to obtain credit for services/goods they will have to call your friend to ensure that he/she actually applied for the credit. Your friend should also contact the local police and make a report of the fraud, also the Social security administration. This is frustrating and nerve racking, but unfortunately there is a lack of sensitivity for fraud victims from creditors.

He needs to speak to a lawyer and start writing to his financial institutions that a fraud was committed under his name.

The lawyer will help out with the credit report agencies, and the companies that are probably going to go after him for payment.

Its going tocost him a lot of money, time and aggravation.
