My son at two months had his first cold and it started out like this. His Doc said not worry as long as he is still eating and that he needs his rest to feel better. She also told me to get Little Noses drops and saline solution for his nose if it was dry or running. I would let you Doc know just to be on the safe side, but don't worry to much.

The average 4-month-old sleeps about 9 to 12 hours (hopefully at night) plus two naps (2 to 3 hours each). If she's developing normally otherwise, I wouldn't worry too much. Some infants also go through periods where they need more sleep (often just before a growth spurt). If she's happy, healthy, and active when she's awake, she may just be one of those people that needs a little more rest than average. :-) If she's sleeping well at night, you might try waking her a little earlier from naps, or try keeping her interest longer during play (it helps if you get down there with her and play, too) before setting her down for her next nap. Of course, if she's waking often during the night, then you'll need to work on getting her body clock on the right schedule. If she seems to be having any developmental delays, or you just want to be sure it's not a health issue, I'd say to ask her pediatrician about it.

If it's only for a day or so I wouldn't worry. Some days even us, adults feel like we want to sleep longer and we don't feel as hungry. How long ago does this condition last? I would think it's normal - my 8 months old has had periods in her life when she suddenly ate less and slept more. It resolved itself within a day or two and she was back to her old self. I'd say it's a growth spurt because that's when they sleep so much more - but then again those times they tend to eat more too. So I don't know, all I can say is that probably she's fine if she is back to herself soon. Make sure she is staying hydrated, try to offer food more frequently and if it continues ask your pediatrician in a few days. But as I've said I 've experienced it from time to time and my daughter was always fine.

Call your doctor's office . . . if you were worried enough to come here and ask, just call them. They are working for you. It's their job.
On the other hand, as a mother of four . . . I wouldn't worry unless it goes on for more than a couple days . . . She should be having a few wet diapers each day. At eight to ten weeks most infants go thru a growth spurt that can affect appetite and sleeping patterns, so I wouldn't worry at this point, but mother's have the great gift of intuition and if you feel something is off, don't hesitate to call your pediatrician!
Good Luck! And congrats on the new blessing!

It may be that she is starting to get teeth or it could just be that she is just growing and many children tend to sleep alot more and their eating habits fluctuate really bad at time. I would say if it last for more then two days or so then maybe take her to the dr. or give him a call to see what he says.

Should call the dr. But my thought is that she has a bloody nose f/ dryness in the house. As far as eating less. Is she still having wet diapers? She should be having,(had?), 2mo. check-up. Did she gain weight? If yes to both then she is probably okay.

As long as she is wetting a diaper every 6 hours (or less) she is fine. (Like not damp but wet)
She is probably just coming off a growth spurt. However if you are really concerned see a doctor. We all have a little voice inside us for a reason, use it.

At this age (under six months of age), you should always trust your instincts and call your doctor immediately if your baby is not eating, or is not acting normally. No one knows your baby as good as you do. Err on the side of caution and call the doc.

My baby is also two months old... and my first. Did you just recently take her for her shots? My little guy just got his shots yesterday and that was what the doc told us would happen for a few days as a result of the shots.

Your pediatrician would be a good one to ask, remember that you are alowed to call and ask him/her questions. But usually babies that are eating less and sleeping more getting ready for a groth spurt. But it is winter and if your baby has a stuffy nose then she might not be able to breathe when she eats and thus getting more and more tired.
Good luck and congrats on your 1st
