By doing exactly what the Republican party has been doing for a decade... they are creating so many legal stipulations on the clinics that many states now don't even have ONE abortion clinic.
They have also created such ridiculous criteria for the doctors in those clinics that many have to live out of state and fly in for their jobs.

Eventually, the challenge will reach the Supreme Court again.
What's really disturbing, however, is the idea that a teen impregnated by someone 18 or over (I'm thinking statutory rape here) can be whisked off to an abortion clinic without her parent's knowledge and have an abortion performed, all the while keeping the identity of her assailant secret.

actually abortion was declared legal outside the democratic process, by a court decision. There is no legislation passed by elected representatives that makes abortion legal. There are those who believe that the constitutional arguments used in Roe v Wade were flawed, and if a case is brought before the supreme court, that decision can be reversed.
For my personal view, I believe that in certain circumstances abortions should be legal, but I do not subscribe to the view that abortions are an unqualified right. The killing of an unborn fetus for purposes of convenience, or to mitigate the responsibilities of sexual behavior is reprehensible, whether you believe in God or not.

They simply have a different viewpoint on what the laws should be like then what the Supreme Court ruled. I do think it is wrong to use religious reasons. But if they personally want it to be illegal, then they are just being a part of the democratic process. But they also should accept that the democratic process has it legal right now.

They aren't trying to get rid of it. But they like to make their voting base believe they are trying. And now, even the religious right has realized they never will get rid of it. So they stopped showing up to the polls the way they did in the 90s. Reps will have to find another base if they want to win in '08
EDIT: bbsiey, even if they said it was OK to murder someone, I stil l wouldn't do it. That's the beauty of freedom. Don't like abortion? Don't have one

In South Dakota, the state assembly tries to pass laws banning abortion, and it also goes to vote in general elections.

By fighting to overturn it. They want to turn back the clock before Roe vs Wade. To be honest, I'm against abortion myself, but I know that it's not my decison to make. The sooner others realize that, the better we'll all be.

They are doing it via the laws that are currently being proposed in Michigan, where abortions would be denied unless proven "uncoerced" and that merely suggesting your girlfriend get one is a crime.
It's very scary what they are proposing.

protesting at clinics.. calling people baby killers.. that sort of thing.. billboards and tv adds as well...
P.S. the debate about abortion is actually a debate about a definition.. those that are pro-choice don't call it life yet and those that are pro-life.. well that is obvious... no one would be arguing if the baby was born.. it's about when you can call if life... so many people get wrapped up in the wrong argument on this issue.
