its just part of the traditional programming... i say sleep when your tired and you will sleep more often but for less time and feel more refreshed...

Why does anyone sleep at night? If they were not to sleep then there would be no teachers at all as they wouldn't have the energy to go to school and teach.
Why do people keep asking questions like why do teachers sleep? and why do teachers drink beer? They do have a life and are no different to anybody else. What is it that is so hard to accept that teachers do normal things?

hahahaha!! this is because teachers aren't aliens you know!! why do you have to sleep? well, they sleep for exactly the same reason as you! they're not superhuman you know - they do get tired! most of them have families of their own, at home, so they have a life outside of school, and maybe, (if it a youngish teacher, aged 24-35) they might have young babies who keep them up all night! and (if they are aged 30-45) they could have children who are like 3-16 years old, and their kids get ill, and have to be taken to school etc! being a teacher isn't an easy life you know!! have a bit of sympathy!! lol! =P

I've been asking this question for years. Why indeed teachers have to sleep at night when they are meant to sleep during the day? Nice_Lady, as I said, I've been asking this question for years!

"HAVE" to sleep is the KEY...I have SO much STUFF running around in my head related to my "school children", my real children, house cleaning, cooking, washing, drying, folding, ironing, grading, etc....I MUST take AMBIEN CR to sleep!!!
I tried doing it all without any sleep medication and found myself coming close to losing it!
Parents, students, spouses, and family have no idea of the emotion, stress, and desire to do your best for all of them and it can catch up with you if you don't get a good night's rest!

you mean they try to sleep at night, there usually up grading papers at night.

To recover from dealing with our students and their parents all day. Otherwise, we would go insane and start eating pencil shavings or something.

perhaps so they can teach better during the day...they r just like everybody eles,everybody HAS 2 sleep or eles we would look like walking zombies.
