Unless you live in a small town, there are probably people that you can talk to and get to know. I cannot travel either, and this is the way I learn (although I can't seem to learn more about my Native American heritage this way). If you see someone in public, just carefully approach them and let them know what you want. Being around different people is the best way to learn the truth.

Well... you can start learning about anthropology both physical and cultural with some history research with mixing that in with some world travel. Sorry but you can afford to travel it just becomes a priority and a sacrifice

Heheh- you have a trick question. The best way isn't the easiest way! Travel is the best by far, but costs $$$.

Talk to people who come from the countries you're interested in, use the Internet, etc. That's easy.

You could begin by going to cultural festivals in the local city. Many groups also have cultural centers. If you do not live near one do a web search for one. also you could try visiting some churches and places of worship.

Go to the library and read up, or you could always talk to people of a different race/background and get their first-hand opinion.

Traveling is the best way, but if you can't, go online and meet people maybe there are sites for meeting friends...I know most seem to be dating sites, but many are not. Try Myspace or Ringo.

Move to a big city - and then make the effort to go meet people - you can't learn this stuff from a book.
