I'm 26 and i've been getting yeast infections on a regular basis since the age of 17. This year they got more and more frequent until I was having them at least once a week, and I noticed that they seemed to be caused especially by spicy food, alcohol or sugar. My doctor didn't believe me but put me on a drug called Fluconazol, which I took for a few months and that made them stop. Now I've been off the drug for two months and here they are again, pestering my life. What can be the reason for these returning infections and is there anything I can do to make them go away for good, or is this a life-long sentence? I´ve heard colon hydrotherapy helps with this problem, has anyone had any experience with that?

I don't know much about this, but my friend was having the same problem and she started reading up on a sugar-free diet. You might do some research on this--I believe it has to do with your body chemistry not reacting well to those two types of food. It would be a big sacrifice to give up a huge portion of your diet, but worth it if you didn't have to take medication all the time.

Try this site http://nativeremedies.com/candida-diet-chronic-yeast.html I don't know if that's the best one or not, but it might be a place to get started.

I haven't experienced any of this myself, but someone awhile back asked how to prevent chronic yeast infections and this is what I told her:

Back off the sugars--candy, soda, fruits, fruit juices, etc. These will increase your blood sugar, which means your urine will have more sugar in it too, and that can also lead to more yeast infections. You don't have to drop all carbs, but the things that are loaded w/ refined sugars (and natural sugars too!) will certainly wreak havoc on your health.

Also, try eating more yogurt. Here's something about how yogurt helps prevent yeast infections:

Have you been screened for Diabetes? Diabetics tend to pee a lot of sugar, and that leads to chronic yeast infections in some women. You might want to consider getting that checked out.

Have you changed your diet to limit your intake of spicy food, alcohol and sugar? Try that. Drink LOTS of water. Wear only all cotton underwear.

I had this same problem and when I stopped taking a certain brand of birth control pills the yeast infections stopped coming. You may want to look into that as well, if you are taking any type birth control pills.

I really can't see that having a bunch of enemas will help you. Having "colonics" is the latest fad, and to me it'll do more harm than good. It's washing away the bacteria in your colon that you actually need. Another thing, an old doctor once told me that the main reason why women have problems down there is because they wipe the wrong way after doing #2. You may want to consider (if you haven't already) changing your type of panties, only wear 100% cotton. If this would continue, maybe it's time to change doctors, and see a gynocologist. Best of luck to you.

You might try probiotics or Yogurt. Here is a link and a quote from it: "I’m often asked if yeast infections are sexually transmitted and if a patient’s partner needs to be treated; the answer is no. However, I have found that in very susceptible patients, the presence of semen and/or use of spermicides can upset the vaginal flora and change the pH levels, and in some cases instigate yeast infections."

I am not asking this to scare you in anyway. However, have you been tested for HIV. That is a symptom of the virus. May want to rule it out if you are sexually active and have had unprotected sex. :(
