My pregnant guppy has been showing signs for delivery for afew days now, but whenever i stick her in the breeding box she does nothing, i keep her in there over night and then end up taking her out in the morning cause i dont want her in there too long getting stressed. Then half way through the day she shows signs again and the same thing happens.

I can almost see the fry in her gravid spot and she looks about ready to burst. The signs she has been reguarly showing is not eating (yet when i test this with one piece of flake food after her being in the breeding box for afew hours, she eats it?!), being unsocial, and pacing up and down the sides of the tank.

so when will she deliver and why hasnt she yet?

here are afew pictures i took of her...

I would say about 7 days or so, the breeding box is a bad idea, fish get so stressed in those things that sometimes it causes them to "terminate" delivery this can result in still birth or death of the mother. I suggest a nursey tank. A small tank maybe 2-5 gallons well planted where the mother can be isolated to give birth (lots less stress)

She look almost ready to drop. See the black spot on the back the darker it is the closer to dropping they are. make sure the other fish or mum cant get the babies or they will be eaten.

EDIT:You 2 above wats the point in being silly she asked for a reason looks like so far im the only 1 to give a good answer.

EDIT: Zoe good answer, i have all type of tropical fish and the guppies produce like no tomorrow (bonk and eat) we have so many baby guppies its stupid we even gave over 100 away few weeks ago.

Nice pics!
She doesn't look quite ready to burst yet. When did she last have babies, or when did you get her? It takes 21-30 days.

Be patient, with guppies, she will have babies all the time, more than you know what to do with.

Placing her in a breeding net overnight every few days is a bad idea. Netting her and putting her there is very stressful and may cause her to abort or retain the babies.

Leave her in the tank and provide lots of cover (plants) for the babies. You can net the babies when they are born, it's easy to do, they aren't very quick. With enough plants, many will survive.

Her belly will look almost square when she is ready.

properly, no longer acceptable away. she would be able to be specializing in attempting to furnish delivery to her different fry. approximately 10 or 20 minutes after she has finished giving delivery, then she would be able to pass back to functioning usually, ingesting and slumbering, and so on. except you have a breeding container (which i in my view advise you may desire to no longer) and you have been staring at her supply delivery, and you're waiting to take her out acceptable whilst the final fry are born, then you definately won't could desire to undertaking approximately her ingesting the babies. of direction, you delivers each and each of the babies a gamble by utilising having various vegetation and hiding areas for the fry. that's appropriate to purchase very furry and leafy vegetation. reliable vegetation for hiding in are dwarf saggitaria, hornwort, crystalwort, java moss, anarchis, water sprite, and wisteria. those are general quite ordinary vegetation to look after and don't desire any ingredients, like ferts, CO2 or intense lights (however those are counseled for the ideal plant develop and colour) i'm hoping this replaced into powerful! :)
