I do not think I could ever be swayed by "poor" arguments.Dental treatment, worries about paying bills, inability to help your family, why would poor ever be better??? The rich never give it all back either....despite bleats that they are the same people anyway and that money does not bring them happiness.

It is not the money that makes someone happy or sad. Money can however help people find happiness. A lack of money has helped many gain happiness while an abundance has helped others find happiness. But then there are times when not enough money has helped people destroy themselves and when much money has helped people destroy themselves. The only universal answer for this question is rich people think they are happier while poor people think they are sadder.

Both are just as happy as each other. It doesn't really depend on wealth as to who is happiest, just who the person is. But if I had to give a definite answer, I would say it's the rich person who was born and raised poor and who was fortunate to make it big. That type of person can be happier because their life has completely changed for the better, and they are more likely to share their wealth with the less fortunate, which will make them feel better about themselves.

In my opinion a simple life is the best. Money isn't everything. How would you Fancy living in the country side in Scotland, with hills and lochs to enjoy. What if you cut yourself off from other societies, and lived off the land. No pollution. Little worries.

But you don't want to be a cult.

There cannot be a perfect world. The world has moved to to cars, computers, banks and selfishness.

I would love in a world with the benefits of being rich and poor, living in the city and in the country and living nowadays or a few centuries ago.

But as I said before, it isn't possible. But how I would love to live in Utopia, the land of peace and happiness....

O.K. So You get a million bucks somehow today. After you buy all the things you want, go all the places you want, treat all your friends to whatever they want, etc. THEN WHAT? You will be bored. And then theres the question of LOVE. Money can't buy you love. So you gonna sit around every day after a while and wonder, what can i buy today, where can i go, what to do, etc. Least poor people have dreams. AND when they get to realize one of their dreams, it means so much more. it would be nice to be rich-for a while-just to see how the other half lives, but i would sooner have dreams than sit around and be bored and i would sooner have REAL friends who genuinely care for me and are not just hanging around cause i have big bucks. If I EVER do come into big bucks my motto will be."If you didn't ride with me in the volkswagen you dont need to ride with me in the limo."

I've been both. Poor, (but being able to pay bills & have health ins) is better. I know rich people & not one is truly happy. I started out with nothing, was comfortable for a while & am now back to almost nothing. I'm happier now.

Happiness is a state of mind.

There are alot of very unhappy wealthy people for reasons such as bad health, bad relationships, and then on the other hand poor people may have the very same reasons to be unhappy.

Being grateful for your health, family and loved ones, and keeping a compassionate heart will keep you on the right path to true happiness.

Good question, Juliette, for which there may not be a definitive answer. I've been rich and I've been poor and in my case there really wasn't any difference. I think happiness is something inherent inside us whether we are rich or poor, lucky or doomed, beautiful or ugly, popular or not.

Happiness has nothing to do with wealth. If you have loving family and friends, a satisfying job, and are content with yourself and the way your life is going, then how much money you have doesn't matter.

I think the poor is happier, because they have nothing anyone can steal and they know that they will go to Heaven because the poorest in spirit will go to heaven.

poor, because they're less dependent on outside things. Although for me I follow moderation, why be rich or poor when you can have what you need.
