I give it a B-, but it was the truly eye-popping dragon special effects that gave it 1/3 of a letter grade. Acting (except for Jeremy Irons' performance, which was excellent) was mediocre, the plot seemed rehashed, dialogue so-so, & laws of magic perilously underdeveloped. Still, the heroes were easy to root for & the main villain was cool scary. Overall, I did like it. However, I have not read the book.

The trailer and everything made the movie look fantastic, but the movie is really not much like the book. It has the characters (some of which are played by actors not suited for the part) but the story behind it all isn't there. Not a good movie at all, if Christopher Paolini had some part in the production, it would have been much better. I'm actually curious about what he thinks about it.

I read the book before watching the movie, I didn't think that the movie slaughtered the book that much! It only took out some things and blended most of the book together! I absolutely loved the movie and I hope that people who read these and any other reviews of the movie are not turned down and don't want to watch it! You just have to be a sci-fi/action/fantasy person to have really loved the movie I guess! At least that's the way I'm taking it! I think this is one kick *** movie and it has definately sorted out the people who are fantasy/action/sci-fi people from those who HATE that stuff!

I have, and it is cool!
I havn't read the book but I absoloutly loved the movie!
(Perhaps if you've read the book, and everything is changed it'd be a dissapointment there, but if you ignore that fact, it really is a good movie. - specially for fantasy/adventure lovers like me.)
When I saw there was a fantasy/adventure movie coming out I was like soooooo excited!
And yeah...saw it the first day it came out (14th here in Aus) and it met my expectations 100%!
Awesome stuff!
I just hope that people who read all these extreme negative reviews/comments by the "public pre-movie book readers" aren't turned away from seeing it.
Because as a movie, it IS good. my opinion. : )

I have not seen the movie yet, but the people that I have talked to that saw it after reading the book, all seem to say the same thing,I know a few people who said they walked out after the first twenty minutes, they couldn't take anymore.

I'm seeing this movie the day after Christmas.
I'm sure it would be impossible to make the movie like the book.
Just like LOTR, alot was left out of the movie,or even added.
That shouldn't make or break a movie.
