I do not have access to the og computer the drive was in. The western digital software detects the drive and shows no errors and healthy status. OS XPpro w/service pack 2.

sounds like it could be an issue with permissions being set on the root directory of that drive, if that drive was formated as NTFS. are you trying to access the contents of the drive ? if not just reformat the drive

Can you bring up a command prompt and cd to that drive?
