A person can feel connected to a special place if an event happened there that brings back nice memories to the person (e.g. first date, place you met somebody, etc.).

Oh I hope that I don't throw you off of your essay. When I was living in Bucks County Pennsylvania, I no longer live there, I felt a certain psychic connection, and while exploring my family tree I discovered it may be possible that my ggg grandfather may have been born there. A thing I did not know at the time.
