I know, it does seem a bit odd, but they are there for a purpose. Seems strange but I bet there have been lawsuits over that kind of thing. You'd be suprise what people are willing to sue for. Some people are nuts.
I know it's common sense. It's not like someone is going to pick up a shampoo bottle and be like, "Great, what the hell am I supposed to do with this thing?" but seriously, they have to cover themselves.
